From performing at PASIC with the Santa Clara Vanguard to playing timpani in the U.S. debut of Andras Vass’ arrangement of Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, Jacob Kline is a performing artist and educator based in Baltimore, Maryland with a diverse background in percussion and music education. Jacob has a wide array of performance experience, most recently attending the Sō Percussion Summer Institute, where he worked with composers like Nathalie Joachim and Jason Trueting, and performed a variety of chamber percussion music over the course of 2 weeks in Princeton, New Jersey. With a particular interest in contemporary chamber percussion, Jacob also participated in a multi-part recording series with the Moores School Percussion Ensemble in 2021, appearing in works like Dave Hall’s DisArchitecture, Christopher Deane’s Vespertine Formations, and Bruce Hamilton’s Raptures of Undream.

Jacob has a strong dedication to education, working primarily as a private percussion teacher in the Baltimore area. In addition to private teaching, Jacob spends his summers teaching at the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, a DCI World Class finalist. Jacob believes strongly in the power of education in changing lives and always seeks to inspire his students and help them find success in their musical endeavors.

Originally from Fort Worth, TX, he is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance at the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, studying with Robert van Sice. Jacob has spent the last 5 years living in Houston, Texas studying music education and percussion with Blake Wilkins and David Bertman at the University of Houston, finishing his Bachelor’s Degree in May of 2023. Currently, Jacob is collaborating with violist Jacob Burk on a series of duets for percussion and viola, with plans to release recordings in early 2024.
